Users continued to complain at a low level that these problems seemed to persist, despite the fixes. If it failed, there was a substantial recall that replaced certain older batches of the discrete GPU chips. There was, after a while, a new Video Switching Test (VST) that could run for 15 minutes, then pass or fail. I keep experiencing frequent crashing while I’m using the Mac for my activities such as coding, wordpress rendering, browsing, bluestacks, chrome dev tools, photoshop, WhatsApp Desktop and similar creativity apps. New charger cord, this computer works fine for her, pushing it to the limits. Cleaned, looked at, cleaned again, new guts, cleaned again. ![]() Somebody please give me some logical answer. I get it home, 15 mintutes home and it crashes. She had been able to keep it going for two days without finding anything wrong, nor did it crash. Today I went to pick it up after more crashes, she litterally had every single program going, all three browsers running netflix and amazon. My girl who has been taking care of me has worked on it six times. This thing is pretty much brand new on the inside. This is definitely the easiest/cheapest option, but to have such a computer and not be able to use the graphics card seems like a real shame.This computer has be looked at, cleaned, brand new solid state HD, brand new motherboard, brand new battery. Would this necessarily fix the issue?Ģ) Is there any way to "fix" the graphics card?ģ) Keep using gfxCardStatus and only use the integrated graphics card. I am just wondering what my options are (any input on any of these would be appreciated!):ġ) Replace the logic board. I installed gfxCardStatus, and have discovered that the computer runs fine using the integrated card, but as soon as I switch to the discrete card - the screen breaks in some fashion (typically vertical lines, alternating blue and green). In one of the images, there is a severe amount of horizontal distrotion (especially in the menubar) in the other, the screen became split (the left side of the screen is on the right and vice versa!). You can see here that the problem isn't restricted to the "blue screen" outcome. Since then, the screen has gone awry (see photos below) on numerous occassions - each time necessitating a hard reset. ![]() The computer was working fine, when all of a suddent the screen when completely blue. However, as of two days ago, the problem has become substantially more severe. Since I've had the computer, the screen would get a blue tint when the computer switched between them. It has two graphics components: an AMD Radeon HD 6750M and a built-in Intel HD Graphics 3000. I have an early 2011 MacBook Pro (2.2 GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 memory) running OS 10.8.2. ![]()
